The Church os Nossa Senhora das Dores: That historial and cultural path to form a museal espace

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to analyze the creation of the Museum of Sorrows Church, which is being implemented in this institution, and his insertion on the contemporary reality. The constitution of this local museum was based on a new design of museum in the letters published in Quebec and Santiago of Chile, respectively. Introducing a communication between the social environment and the traditional museum institution, seen that a collaborator in the production of social memory and helping to build the same for the community. Besides, the analysis was made between practice and theory as regards the auspices of the new museology, analyzing the form of acquisition, preservation and future exhibition of the collection on religious art in Rio Grande do Sul, in particular the Church of Sorrows. Finally, from these assumptions we sought to produce a local variable which we can see the museum's social role in contemporary world.
