Vitoria's Historical Center: A panorama over a decade of revitalization and valorization of the patrimony

Abstract

Abstract It is about releasing a historical panorama over the situation of Vitoria's Historical Center, the oldest region of city and a real focus of capixaba's culture and tradition, when a long period of abandonment and oblivion, gave place, in the last decade, to actions of safeguard and valorization of public cultural belongings of that location. Having gone trough adverse situations, like a defamatory media discourse and a bad public administration, it was then possible to begin the construction of a positive image within the idea of popular participation with the goal of preserving local history and culture. Key-words: Historical Center; Vitória; Preservation; Patrimony; Safeguard.
