The registration of the Congo as a means of preserving the mining heritage: new possibilities

Abstract

This article is about the cultural heritage, and seeks to examine the record of an outbreak originating in African culture - the Congos - as a means of preserving part of intangible heritage in Brazil, and especially in Minas Gerais. Therefore, we had mainly theoretical sources, that deal with intangible heritage, congados, societies without writing and writing, performance analysis. We present some empirical data provided by the State Institute of Historical and Artistic Heritage of Minas Gerais (IEPHA/MG). The performance analysis is seen as crucial to understanding the ways of transmission of collective memory of the cultural groups involved, for the perception of multiple meanings issued and, therefore, to prepare a more accurate and complete record. This work is a result of the process of developing the thesis project "The celebrations mining: new approaches to his record".
