Effect of University policy on the images ok university museums: the case of the museums UFBA

Abstract

Museums are important means of exchange and dissemination of culture and human knowledge. However, university museums have special features that differentiate them from others. This work aims to characterize and situate that can define a university museum, identifying which aspects of this particular universe differ from the other museums. The role of museums to university community and to society is also a controversial point discussed. Through the history and reality of museums of Universidade Federal da Bahia want to show our argument that controversies regarding the role and the problems faced by museums university policies are reflections of the university. We support the University museums have many special missions and assignments, fruits of museum activities, and therefore can not be treated equal to other institutional bodies. Thus, it is important that universities reflect on what they expect of museums that are under their custody and implement specific policies that facilitate its exercise.
