Abstract

We propose an evaluation of the applicability of the concept of field of sociological theory of Pierre Bourdieu to the study of cultural heritage. To do so, through approaches and viewpoints, explore the boundaries of this theoretical perspective. The thread running through culture, society, politics and power, so read through the construction of this theory, we introduce a debate on the approach we have adopted and the relationship we propose between equity and power. Thus, we relate the discussion of political power and the social and political functions of cultural heritage and cultural diversity. And then, the advice of an interpretation of the prospects for the study and policy development for heritage in Brazil. Keywords: Cultural heritage. Field theory. Orthodoxy.
