Abstract

This review paper aims to justify the relevance of Waldisa Rússio and Tereza Scheiner's works - two Brazilian scholars that gave important contributions to Museology as a discipline and Museum as the object of their research. This work has started during the final research of the major in Museology and was matured throughout the research for the dissertation of the Master's Program and the Social Sciences’ College. In the analysis, two different kinds of strategies were identified to approach the same theme (reflections upon Museology and its study object): while Rússio dialogues with Sociology taking part of the concept of social fact, from Durkheim, to theorize about the concept of museological fact, Scheiner broaches philosophical perspectives to explain the concept of museum as a phenomenon and Museology as Philosophy. Thus, we emphasize that both scholars give special contributions to Museology as a knowledge field.
