Museum As A Space Of Interpretation And Of Meaning Ordainment
Abstract
If facts call for meaning, and if the work of interpretation is, besides being endless, inherent to all subjects, then it is well-timed to discuss some concepts concerning the museum, considering that it is understood as a privileged discursive space for interpreting some given reality and to discipline meanings about that reality. Specifically, the museum plays a very important role as part of the ideological apparatus of society, notably as a member of a political net which is inseparable from the current civilization process. Based on a theoretical-methodologic apparatus which combines some elements from the history of sciences and from discourse analysis, there will be an effort to insert the discussion about the museum’s onto-historical character into the circuit of a wider discussion on universalism and on the hegemony of westernized patterns.Downloads
