Visitors in the twenty-first century: an audience survey at the MNBA
Abstract
Focusing the object of this study, the Museu Nacional de Belas Artes(National Fine Arts Museum – MNBA), one of the major art museum in the country, the article examines the most recent survey of attendees and non attendees of the institution, examining their results to propose strategies to increase the stimulus of its frequency, seeking to enable greater visibility for its precious collection, with focus on permanent display. The study was conducted in November and December 2009, with the horizon at the resonance point of the collection or their lack, reflecting on the visitation of the permanent exhibition and temporary exhibitions of the institution, among other things. The qualitative survey studied barriers to attendance, reflecting the values and emotions of the collective imagination. The research lifted actions - partly adopted, although still under review - that can help to enhance the resonance of the institution with the public. Concludes by presenting some of its results.Downloads
