Representations and Interculturalities in Marajoaras Heritage

Abstract

In this article, we discuss representations and interculturalities in marajoaras heritages, reported by the newspaper A Província do Pará, between the 1950s and 1960s, focusing on the city of Ponta de Pedras. We seek to situate the place of Marajoara Amazon in the production related to the historiography of the heritage and describe our research experience in the region and the involvement with the subject on the screen. We interrogate the use of the term “Marajo Island”, explaining its senses and proposing other denominations for the knowledge writing concerning to the life manners of people living in the largest fluvial-marine archipelago in the world. So, then, we analyze the pontapedrenses heritages transmitted in the great Pará’s press, based on theoretical and methodological intersections of Heritage, Cultural Studies and Press Media.
