Abstract

: Even though the debates on cultural diversity are being considered an integral part of the new thinking on identities in contemporary time, in the universe of museums the matters of identity are for long being apprehended as the basis for heritage transmission. Identity is a crucial aspect of cultural reproduction, it is the culture internalized in subjects, subjectively appropriated under the form of a conscience of the self in the context of a limited field of shared significations. According to Lacan psychoanalysis, every behavior of some ‘other’ that responds to the Self plays the role of a mirror, even any mark of human existence that can be left expressed in the world in which a person can be contemplated as the author. This conception can be utilized to the comprehension of the cultural heritage, essentially connected to the sense of belonging-together. This way, taking in consideration the ideas above, the work presented has the identity as the prime essence for the analysis of the concepts of Museum and heritage. Key-words: Museum. Museology. Heritage. Identity.
