Guilherme Tiburtius and its relation with the Archaeological Heritage: from collecting to archaeological research

This article talks about the life of Guilherme Tiburtius, a collector and amateur archaeologist who for years gathered more than 12 thousand archaeological and ethnographic pieces whose collection is now part of the collection of the Sambaqui Archaeological Museum of Joinville, his articles and written notebooks, still serve today to the delight of the laity and as a source for many scientific researches. We will present Guilherme Tiburtius, as well as his relationship with the city of Joinville - SC. We will approach collecting trying to understand some aspects of this practice and finally raise the question of Guilherme being a collector and the legitimacy of his work as an amateur archaeologist.Downloads
