Panorama of public aquariums in the city of Rio de Janeiro

Abstract

This article aims to conduct a study of the history of public aquariums located in the city of Rio de Janeiro. Unlike what in other countries, in Brazil, and more specifically in the city of Rio de Janeiro, the history of public aquariums is not yet written. With the material collected, mainly in the hemeroteca of the National Library, it was possible to draw a brief overview of the history of these exhibition spaces present in the city of Rio de Janeiro.
