Abstract

Given the importance that railroads had in the construction of our contemporary society and the traumatic cutback in investment that this popular means of transport suffered at the end of the 20th century, especially in the northeast region of Brazil, we present in this article an artistic action, called Ferroviagem that set out to expand photography as a “museum object” for the formation of a bond between art, technology and memory through mapped projection. Ferroviagem brings together photography, sound installation and architecture, opening up new possibilities to rethink the architectural heritage linked to the railways of the state of Ceará and, in addition, to activate collective memories in the community. It is an action of collecting historical photographs to awaken feelings, memories and affections linked to trains in that city. As a result of this action, there was a change in the conservation policy of that heritage by the local city hall.
