Proposal of Ecomuseum in Argentina: a space to preserve the mining-industrial heritage and local identity

Abstract

At the last decade the heritage mining-industrial are being discussed. It was accepted inside of cultural heritage. Nowadays, the society is generating strategies to preserve the most important elements. The local heritage is the materialization of the memory and the identity. The Ecomuseum is a potential project towards the preservation of a lot of social manifestations. In that case, the territory takes value and shows its construction, as an integral process. Nature and society, through the productive processes associated to mining, display a legacy which is spatially referenced. This manifestation is very complex but the heritage can be measured by its present and future value. The ecomuseum is an oportunity in those places under degradation processes and stagnation. This paper has one purpose: to analyze the potential heritage of a place with important mining activity in the Buenos Aires Province. Sierras Bayas has a diversity of resources. However, it is necessary to build a participatory process that values the heritage as a whole. The ecomuseum is an interesting possibility. Key words: Heritage mining-industrial. Identity.
