Abstract

Among other themes, the Museu Casa Guilherme de Almeida gives special attention to the participation of the poet who gives his name to the institution at the brazilian modernist movement and, inside this movement, the Modern Art Week in 1922. To celebrate Guilherme de Almeida as a modernist without discussing the contradictions of the Modernism brings to the institution the risk of reinforcing many myths related to the city of São Paulo and its importance at the history and the literary historiography of the brazilian nation. Through this path, we get the house museums of personality close to the concept of national museum. We have identified elements that the museum could work with in a way that would explore better the relationship between Guilherme de Almeida and the Modernism and the conflicts of the movement itself.
