Abstract

This paper investigates some of the itineraries that configure the economy of the symbolic of popular culture in the Sergipe’s museum field from analysis of the musealization of the puppet theater “Mamulengo de Cheiroso”. It emphasizes the strategies in favor of a certain reading of the popular culture and the invention of the sergipanity by means of the operationalization of a politics of the memory and the forms of mobilization of the senses in the instances of production and cultural circulation in the manufacture and consecrate the authority of the creation in the museological exhibitions. In order to do so, it investigates how exhibitions on the puppet theater have become a legacy, according to the model presented by Luciana Heymann, and strategy of production of beliefs in the market of symbolic goods, according to the understanding of Pierre Bourdieu, when re-updating and ritualizing versions on the popular in the constant reinvention of "Mamulengo de Cheiroso".
