Abstract

The Memorial of the Marist Archdiocesan College of São Paulo has among its objectives, to safeguard items that are physically integrated into the school routine; register and disseminate school memory and manage preservation policies for items identified as relevant to the history of education. The Memorial was chosen as a place of custody for the collection of the extinct Marist College of Santos from 2009 onwards. This article presents the history of transfer, organization, listing, custody and diagnostic technical survey of the collection in question. The evaluation and separation of the pieces that presented a high degree of compromise due to corrosion and pest infestation were carried out; initial inventory list; diagnostic survey of damaged objects; and objects that must be restored. The text takes part in the academic dialogues about the safeguarding of the scientific educational heritage.
