Abstract

The concepts of Information Science, Museology and Ecomuseology are related in this article. The Ecomuseum is conceived as an Information Unit, emphasizing Information Representation in this type of institution. The discussion is divided into three parts. The first makes a history of the Organization of Knowledge and Information, showing the relationship with libraries and museums. The second part contextualizes the museum object as a document, discussing its process of musealization. The third part establishes the historical context of the concept of ecomuseum and ecomuseology. The methodology adopted for the development of the research was the one of bibliographical research. The results show that the ecomuseum can represent the information from the sociocultural context for which it was created, seeking a closer relationship with the public.
