Museum, symbolic power and cultural diversity
Abstract
The issue of cultural diversity which is represented in the multiplicity of cultural origins that are reflected in the objects of museum collections and the procedures of selection and registration, identification and interpretation, information and communication which are viewed through the prism of technical and conceptual attitudes that may indicate the exercise of symbolic power is the theme of the article. And the museum, recognized as an area referred to symbolic systems, is categorized according to the model of social instance that mirrors the specialized field of competence and cultural legitimacy that promote the practice of this kind of power.
