Abstract

This article highlights some of the most significant aspects of what get known as the Italian art revolution of the 1950s, which was undertaken by Carlo Scarpa, Franco Albini, Studio BBPR and others. In order to attract a new audience, in addition to the closed circles of the elite, this group of architects conceived exhibitions that contextualized the work of art in order to invite museum visitors to an unprecedented process of enjoyment and understanding. The detailed analysis of the projects of these exhibitions offered the possibility of listing the principles that guided these architects, and that in sum they are: respect the proportion of the object to be exposed and the space that welcomes it; he contextualization of the work of art being that when necessary we must design surfaces, supports and scenarios that are capable of accommodating and highlighting it; and finally the reception and treatment of natural light as a form of illumination of works of art. A set of basic projective principles and universally applicable exposures.
